About

Welcome!

For most of my life, I’ve been fascinated by one thing: how stories shape people.

Why certain books stay with us forever. Why some ideas move people to action while others disappear. Why clear, meaningful communication matters so deeply in business, classrooms, literature, and everyday life.

That fascination led me into marketing, where I spent years helping brands communicate value and connect with audiences. It also led me into fiction writing, where I became obsessed with character, conflict, fear, and transformation.

But long before either of those paths, I wanted to become a teacher.

In many ways, this stage of my life feels less like a reinvention and more like a return to something that was always waiting for me.

I began my professional journey as a teenager working at a small-town movie theater. (If you ever want to hear the story, let me know.) Since then, I’ve marketed everything from snow cones and sandwiches to SaaS platforms and aesthetic medical technologies.

Along the way, I earned a B.S. in Business Administration–Marketing and a Master’s in Marketing Analytics from WGU. (Night Owls say hello.) I also complemented my formal education with certifications in digital marketing, SEO, paid search, analytics, inbound marketing, and leadership.

Over time, though, I realized something important:

The skills that power great marketing are deeply human skills.

Storytelling. Empathy. Audience awareness. Critical thinking. Clear communication. The ability to understand what people fear, desire, avoid, and hope for.

Those same skills live at the heart of great writing and meaningful education.

And in an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, automation, and endless streams of content, I believe those human skills matter more than ever.

Today, I’m pursuing a path in English education while continuing to write fiction and nonfiction centered around storytelling, literacy, creativity, and the changing relationship between humans and technology.

I’m also the founder of The Writing Lair, a growing platform dedicated to helping writers strengthen their craft, develop their ideas, and build meaningful creative careers.

On this site, you’ll find:

  • Essays on storytelling, literacy, AI, and communication
  • Reflections on teaching, learning, and creativity
  • Fiction projects, books in development, and horror writing
  • Thoughts on strategy, persuasion, and the future of human-centered skills

Because while technology changes constantly, one thing remains true:

People still need stories.
People still need meaning.
And people still need to learn how to think clearly, communicate effectively, and connect with one another.

That’s what this site is really about.

Thanks for visiting. I’m glad our stories crossed paths. Visit the blog for the latest articles.
